Created for a renovated historic building near Keelung’s fishing port, Land of Tomorrow is an installation that reflects on the exhaustion of ocean resources through a fictional scene set in the future.

Drawing from AMCP Studio’s interest in science fiction, the project imagines the year 2249, when the fossil of a fictional marine creature, the “Shallow Water Fan Thorny Fish,” is discovered near Keelung’s Ba Chi Men Fishing Port. Marked by carbonization, mineral traces, and fragments of plastic, the specimen appears as both a relic and a warning — a future artifact looking back at a history that could still be changed.

The installation transforms the former specimen room of the Zhengbin Fisheries Association Building into a quiet memorial for an imagined extinct species. Through fossil-like forms, suspended structures, and an atmosphere shaped by sound and shadow, Land of Tomorrow invites viewers to consider the fragile relationship between memory, ecology, and the ocean’s possible future.
