Ming Fay:
Edge of the Garden

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

Challenge

Bring more than one hundred sculptures together as a coherent exhibition while preserving the character of each work.

Strategy

Over two years of development, AMCP shaped layered arrangements and sightlines around a path that echoes the garden outside. The design connects Ming Fay’s imagined nature with the museum’s horticultural identity.

Solution

A walk-through garden in the Hostetter Gallery, where individual sculptures become part of an unfolding spatial experience. Restrained display elements keep attention on the works and their relationships.
