Land of Tomorrow
Keelung Ciao Art Festival
In the year 2249, archaeologists in Keelung unearth the fossil of a sea creature no one has seen before, its bones laced with carbon, minerals and fragments of plastic. We placed this fictional discovery in the old specimen room of the Zhengbin Fisheries Association Building and used fossil-like forms, suspended structures, sound and shadow to hold a quiet memorial for an imagined extinct species. Seen from the future, today’s choices come into sharp focus.
Challenge
Make the exhaustion of ocean resources tangible within a historic building connected to Keelung’s fishing port.
Strategy
Imagine an archaeological discovery in 2249: the fossil of a fictional marine creature marked by carbonization, mineral traces and fragments of plastic. A future specimen becomes a way to look back at choices being made today.
Solution
The former specimen room of the Zhengbin Fisheries Association Building becomes a quiet memorial for an imagined extinct species. Fossil-like forms, suspended structures, sound and shadow invite reflection on the ocean’s possible future.

西元 2249 年，考古學家在基隆挖出一具從沒見過的海洋生物化石，骨骼裡夾雜著碳化痕跡、礦物和塑膠碎片。我們把這個虛構的發現放進漁會正濱大樓昔日的標本室，用化石般的形體、懸吊結構、聲音和光影，為一個想像中滅絕的物種辦一場安靜的紀念。從未來回望，今天的選擇格外清楚。
挑戰
在一棟與基隆漁港緊密相連的歷史建築裡，讓海洋資源的枯竭變得具體可感。
策略
設定 2249 年的一場考古發現：一具虛構海洋生物的化石，帶著碳化、礦物痕跡與塑膠碎片。用未來的標本，回望今天正在做的選擇。
解決
漁會正濱大樓昔日的標本室，化為一座安靜的紀念館，悼念一個想像中滅絕的物種。化石般的造型、懸吊結構、聲音與光影，邀人思索海洋可能的未來。
